Philippine Travel – When and Where

February 25th, 2010

Be aware that the experiences you’re about to encounter is unlike anything you’d encounter anywhere else in the world. Each and every country has its own unique experience to offer you and when you travel to the Philippines, you should expect the same.

When Is It Best To Travel To The Philippines?

Are you allergic to rain? If so, it would do you good to avoid traveling to this part of Southeast Asia during the months of June till November as that’s when the occasional typhoon or two makes time to visit the Philippines. Traveling during the rainy season of the Philippines can be quite a hassle, especially if you don’t have a car. But if you do, you could expect smaller crowds to contend with as most people tend to stay indoors.

If you’re unable to take the heat and still be merry, then you should not travel to the Philippines during the months of March till May because that’s officially the summer season of the country. Everyone head for the nearest beach so if you don’t want to feel crowded when you’re sunbathing, set your travel date for another time of the year. The Easter season is always busy for everyone in the Philippines so expect a difficult time on reserving transportation when it’s Holy Week.

If you’re on the lookout for the world-famous fiestas that only the Philippines could offer, schedule your travel date for January, May or December. The flower season of Baguio – described as the summer capital of the Philippines because of its perennially cool weather – is something to look forward to. And then there’s the Santacruzan during May and which each and every town parades its most beautiful residents in a walk around town.

Where In The Philippines Is It Best To Travel To?

There are so many types of places to visit in the Philippines that it’s hard to enumerate each and every one of them. Beaches, however, are one of the most favorite travel spots of the country so if you want to enjoy your stay in a beautiful paradise of clear blue green water and cool white sand, you could check out Tali Beach, the world-famous Boracay or try surfing the secluded beaches of Surigao and La Union.

If you are an ice cream lover then visiting the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory in Vermont is a must. If you are in the area for business or pleasure, or are traveling specifically to visit this amazing ice cream factory, you will find the tour interesting and rewarding.

The tour begins with a movie that discusses how two friends, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, took a $5 correspondence course and then managed to turn it into a major successful ice cream brand. Few people know how Ben and Jerry’s got its name, but the movie will clue you in on who the developers of some of the best ice cream flavors in the world really are.

After the movie guests are taken to see the factory from the mezzanine where they can get a good view of how the ice cream making process takes place. Guests are then taken to the Flavoroom where they can sample the day’s ice cream flavors.

Guests are then allowed to visit the ice cream flavor graveyard where past flavors have been laid to rest. Also, a trip to the scoop shop and gift shop are encouraged. There are more than 30 flavors to try at the scoop shop so it must be visited. The gift shop has some great accessories and gift items any Ben and Jerry’s fan must have.

Louisiana – French Market – A Great Vacation and Travel Destination

January 8th, 2010

The French Market in New Orleans, Louisiana, is simply amazing. You may feel that New Orleans is off limits as a vacation place after Hurricane Katrina, but that is not the case at all. Many changes have taken place and it is still a beautiful place to visit. The French Market is just amazing and you will know you have arrived when you begin smelling the fresh ground coffee that will make a café au lait and the fresh herbs. You can find the French Market in the French Quarter and the open air market will remind you of the very popular European markets. Everything you could want will be at the French Market from shopping and music to amazing dining and an unrivaled atmosphere.

The French Market has been around since the late 1700s and really hasn’t changed much in the past two centuries. This is America’s oldest public market and everyone should visit it at least once. There are five blocks of shops where you will find great souvenirs that your family and friends will really enjoy. You’ll find locally made jewelry, artifacts, and even clothing. There are farmers out selling fresh fruits and vegetables and this is a great place to get some of the summer’s best treats.

Enjoy a café au lait with some beignets, which are square doughnuts with powdered sugar on top. This is a real treat and truly excellent any time of the day, especially in the morning or when it is cooler. Some great restaurants to try include Café du Monde, Bella Luna Restaurant, and Tujaque’s.

There are many other things to do in New Orleans, too, so you can easily plan a vacation to the area for a long weekend or even longer to enjoy everything this beautiful city still has to offer.
