Anyone visiting Rhode Island should consider the Providence Newport Water Ferry. You could always drive from Providence to Newport and it is actually quite a beautiful drive. However, it is much more convenient to take the ferry and affordable too. You can sit back and relax on the ferry ride and even enjoy the scenery! The ferry ride is not exactly fast as it takes about an hour and 25 minutes to travel from Providence to Newport. Also, you will get an up close and personal view of towns like Bristol and Barrington.
This is not a daily tour and is actually one that only leaves in the winter to go to Providence on Mondays through Fridays. As the weather warms up so does the amount of rides available to tourists. It costs eight dollars for a round trip ticket and those going only one way need only pay four dollars.
As you can see there are some great opportunities to sit back and relax and truly enjoy nature and all it has to offer. It is pretty difficult to watch television or surf the web while you are on a water ferry and passing some of the most beautiful sites. You will also find this is a great time to reconnect with your family and just calm down after a busy workday.
There are some places you will go that maintain the intensity of your everyday life. But, if you take the water ferry everything will slow down and you will see that you can take a moment to catch your breath and enjoy the great outdoors.

The Providence Newport Water Ferry in Rhode Island – A Great Vacation and Travel Destination
February 1st, 2010Travel Profitably and Advice
January 22nd, 2010
Making the most out of traveling is an admirable idea. But how to achieve this depends on several factors; like: Is it a business travel or a pleasure trip? If pleasure, are you going alone or with wife or a partner? Or is it your family with wife and kids?
Again, is it a travel involving just a day and night or several days? Let us take the first scenario. You’re traveling alone on a business trip. Depending on your taste you could catch up with reading you had no time while working. If you are not sure of what book you want, you may keep the Kindle, a wireless reading device with over 300,000 books, top newspapers, magazines, and bogs. It can be held and read from, or it can read aloud to you.
Ditto music. Many carry the simple walkman with the music they love and enjoy the maestros’ creations in the constantly changing environment. Those of the contemplative type, traveling in train or plane or car or boat could be the most creative time. The advantage is that you are spared of your usual chores and move with the Nature. Poets used to do this a lot. So did lyrics writers for theatre and films. Creative writers find this time particularly rewarding as running scenery fills in you thoughts otherwise would not have been possible. The women travelers who love knitting or beading find traveling profiting time to create songs in thread and needle.
If you are the one who loves to click, traveling throws up excellent opportunities. With extra chips in your digital camera, the travel, no matter which route, affords you a never-before opportunity to shoot loving moments of life and living. Many lovers of the lens have copied life’s marveling nuggets in this way which may bring them a fortune in the future or simply takes them back on the memory lane.
If you are a group of friends and on a weary, long journey, and you are not in public transport, you can karaoke for fun and discuss the topics you have common love.
With family and children, traveling time has to be spent differently. First, the children must be engaged or they would bore themselves to death or make your life miserable with naughty acts. If it is a travel by road, the best way to engage kids would be to assign them an interesting job like counting sports car or vehicles of a particular color. Or, better still; make them count the vehicles passing you for a period of time. Of course, there should a tasty reward for their toil or they will spoil your effort. Treat them to the candy or a choc- lick of their choice at the next stop.
Plane travel with kids would be trickier as the avenues for indulging in pleasure would be limited. But intelligent games or brain teasing quiz with promises of rewards could be a useful way of keeping them engaged. Reading or looking out and marveling at the clouds of different hues making and unmaking wondrous formations around you is something this writer never found boring.

Malampuzha Travel Tours Guide
November 7th, 2009
Malampuzha is in the state of Kerala in the Palakkad district. It is located on the foothills of the Western Ghats and has a tremendous amount of dense, green foliage to enjoy. In fact, everywhere that you look, beautiful green foliage is there. This foliage creates a serene and almost surreal experience for all that go there.
One of the biggest draws to this particular city is an irrigation dam that was built in 1955. This irrigation dam allows this city to take advantage of its beautiful setting. It helps to irrigate the landscape to make it remain green at all times. This reservoir also adds to the water activities that are possible in the area. Tourists are drawn to this area for its natural beauty and the relaxing atmosphere that exists there because of the impressive, green landscape.
If you are drawn to breathtaking views, this gem of a city has plenty such sights to offer thanks to the greenery as well as the Ghats themselves. If you want to experience some exotic animals, this area can provide you with that possibility. Water activities and relaxing gardens are also possible in the area.
Malampuzha is brimming with both natural and man-made gardens and reservoirs for everyone to enjoy.
Malampuzha Dam
Work on the Malampuzha Dam was begun in 1949. Six years later it was completed and dedicated in 1955. The dam’s capacity is 115.06 meters. The dam created the largest irrigation system in Kerala with a network of canals. This reservoir is in a majestic setting. It is located in the Western Ghats with the Ghats towering over the reservoir. The landscape by the dam is green and incredibly beautiful. The Malampuzha Garden is located right by the dam. The reservoir created by the dam is used as a boating destination by many people including tourists.
Udan Khatola
The Udan Khatola is one of the most loved attraction at Malampuzha Gardens. It is the only Passenger Ropeway in South India and is a unique and impressive way to survey the scenery below. This ropeway allows you to travel above the garden, at a height of 60 feet. This height allows you to have a fantastic look at the green garden below, but also of the impressive Western Ghats. The ride is very safe and takes twenty minutes. The ride has two-seater chairs which are 64 in number. These have transparent hoods that provide both clear view of Malampuzha Gardens and safety as well. The cost for a ride ranges from Rs. 30 to Rs. 150, depending on your situation.
Yakshi Statue
The Yakshi Statue is yet another interesting feature in the Malampuzha area. It sits directly in the Malampuzha Gardens and is set off beautifully by the greenery that surrounds it. This statue is an enormous rock sculpture of Yakshi created by the renowned sculptor Kanai Kanhiraman. Yakshi is traditionally thought of as an enchantress, and this persona adds to the intrigue of this magnificent piece of art. To make this statue even more impressive, the entire huge piece was carved out of one single piece of granite. It definitely takes a master artist to manage creating such magnificence with only one huge piece of rock.
