The Providence Newport Water Ferry in Rhode Island – A Great Vacation and Travel Destination

February 1st, 2010

Anyone visiting Rhode Island should consider the Providence Newport Water Ferry. You could always drive from Providence to Newport and it is actually quite a beautiful drive. However, it is much more convenient to take the ferry and affordable too. You can sit back and relax on the ferry ride and even enjoy the scenery! The ferry ride is not exactly fast as it takes about an hour and 25 minutes to travel from Providence to Newport. Also, you will get an up close and personal view of towns like Bristol and Barrington.

This is not a daily tour and is actually one that only leaves in the winter to go to Providence on Mondays through Fridays. As the weather warms up so does the amount of rides available to tourists. It costs eight dollars for a round trip ticket and those going only one way need only pay four dollars.

As you can see there are some great opportunities to sit back and relax and truly enjoy nature and all it has to offer. It is pretty difficult to watch television or surf the web while you are on a water ferry and passing some of the most beautiful sites. You will also find this is a great time to reconnect with your family and just calm down after a busy workday.

There are some places you will go that maintain the intensity of your everyday life. But, if you take the water ferry everything will slow down and you will see that you can take a moment to catch your breath and enjoy the great outdoors.

January 25th, 2010

If you are an ice cream lover then visiting the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory in Vermont is a must. If you are in the area for business or pleasure, or are traveling specifically to visit this amazing ice cream factory, you will find the tour interesting and rewarding.

The tour begins with a movie that discusses how two friends, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, took a $5 correspondence course and then managed to turn it into a major successful ice cream brand. Few people know how Ben and Jerry’s got its name, but the movie will clue you in on who the developers of some of the best ice cream flavors in the world really are.

After the movie guests are taken to see the factory from the mezzanine where they can get a good view of how the ice cream making process takes place. Guests are then taken to the Flavoroom where they can sample the day’s ice cream flavors.

Guests are then allowed to visit the ice cream flavor graveyard where past flavors have been laid to rest. Also, a trip to the scoop shop and gift shop are encouraged. There are more than 30 flavors to try at the scoop shop so it must be visited. The gift shop has some great accessories and gift items any Ben and Jerry’s fan must have.

The factory is located right in the middle of the Green Mountains not far from Waterbury, Vermont. If you are in the area you should definitely make time to visit!
